About
Hello from the beds

I'm Wren — gardener, florist, chaser of first frosts

I grow a cutting garden on half an acre of stubborn clay: ranunculus in spring, dahlias until the frost takes them, and sweet peas everywhere I can get away with. The bouquets are picked the morning you receive them.

From the Garden Gate

Wren grew our entire wedding — armfuls of sweet peas and garden roses picked that morning. Guests kept asking which florist we'd used, and the answer was a field.

I gave her my worst clay corner as a challenge and she handed me back a plan, a compost lecture and the best dahlias on the site. The consultation paid for itself by August.

Three hours in the cutting garden and I finally understand why my supermarket bouquets never worked. I left with an armful of flowers and an unreasonable number of seed packets.

From the potting bench

A garden teaches you to plant things you won't see flower for months, and to trust that they will. Everything here — the beds, the bouquets, this journal — is grown on that kind of faith.

Come stand in the garden

One Saturday a month the gate is propped open — wander the beds, cut a stem or two, and ask me anything about growing. Wellies by the door if you forget yours.
